Normal saline IV bags for sale, by size
- 1000 mL (1 liter): the standard size for IV hydration and our most popular bag.
- 500 mL: a smaller hydration volume, and the size included in our 500 mL IV fluid kits.
- 250 mL: used for smaller infusions and for diluting medications.
- 50 and 100 mL: small "piggyback" bags typically used to mix and run IV medications alongside a primary line.
Normal saline vs. half-normal saline
Normal saline (0.9% NaCl) has roughly the same salt concentration as blood, which makes it isotonic. It is the most widely used IV fluid in the world and the standard choice for hydration, flushing IV lines and carrying medications.
Half-normal saline (0.45% NaCl) contains half the salt and is hypotonic. It is used for more specific purposes and should be used as directed by a clinician.

Saline IV bag FAQ
Can I buy saline IV bags without a prescription?

How long do saline IV bags last?
Every bag we ship is dated 2027 or later. Store bags at room temperature, away from heat and direct sunlight, and keep them in the outer overwrap until you are ready to use them.
Can I use normal saline for my pet?
Veterinarians prescribe both saline and Lactated Ringer's for subcutaneous fluids. Use the fluid your veterinarian specifies. See our guide to Lactated Ringer's for dogs and cats.

Use IV supplies only with proper training. If you are unsure, consult a healthcare professional.
